Now that we’re smack dab in the middle of summer, our kids have started thinking about business ideas suited for children and strategically planning ways to flex their entrepreneurial muscles. Once they decide what they want to do, I’ll have them warm up by tackling the ever important business plan.
I created a business plan for kids worksheet last summer for our clan so they could dive a little deeper into what it takes to run their own business. Honestly, I don’t care if they want to sell water for the rest of their lives, I just want them to gain confidence, creativity and business knowledge a little more every year.
Our kids haven’t yet nailed down exactly what they want to do this summer, but once they do they’ll have this handy Business Plan Worksheet ready and waiting for them. In the meantime, if your kids have their own business idea, it’s here for you to take advantage of!
Business Ideas for Kids – Business Plan Worksheet:
This business plan for kids worksheet asks kids to answer questions every successful business needs to have the answers to.
Questions like:
- What makes your Business Idea different and how will you stand out from your competition?
- What does your business name say about your business?
- Who is your ideal customer? What are they passionate about?
- How will you get the word out about your kid business?
- What are your competitors charging?
- What will you do with your profits?

I hope this business plan worksheet helps your kids, and mine, dissect some of their business ideas and come out with a more concise, actionable plan. I know they’re young, but kids have a unique ability to gain new skills and proficiencies quickly. If a simple practice like this helps them understand business in new ways, as well as encourages them to think outside of the box — I’M IN!
